The passing of a legend

I haven’t written here that my Great Aunt died late last week… today was her funeral.

To many, it may seem like a bit of a stretch as far as relatedness goes, but I was very close to both my grandmother (who has already died) and her older sister… this may seem a strange thing to say about two respectable middle-class ladies who were in their eighties – but they are the reason that I am a Mistress…

Both of them always – intelligent, elegant and totally in control! With a string of devoted males trailing after them (in the most respectable way of course)…

My Aunty was an ex-servicewoman who looked very glamerous indeed in her WAAF Officer’s uniform and was honoured with an Australian flag on her casket today… she was a formidable woman, 89 years old – she used to wear her diamonds and her 4″ Charles Jourdan heels regularly… her husband (a strong, intelligent and creative gentleman) doted on her and had been doing all the cooking etc for many many years… I never told her about my “other” career – but I suspect she and my grandmother are sitting up somewhere having a drink and admiring my beautiful shoes!

She lived her life to the full to the day she died – drinking good red wine, traveling and always enjoying the love of her extended family (me included!) A dominant woman from the old school from the heels of her beautiful shoes to the tips of her diamond ringed fingers…
