from my stealth trip to Melbourne for mordwen‘s wedding… congratulations! It was wet and cold which prompted a slight fashion faux-pas on my part as I had packed for summer (as you do on the solstice) so I had to run out and buy a cardigan to go over my pretty Akira silk dress.
I was only there for a couple of nights – but was happy to catch up with some friends I haven’t seen for a couple of years one night, and brunch with another friend this morning…
Plus a teeny tiny bit of shopping 🙂
Thursday night was a grading at my Kung Fu club – I wasn’t grading this time round – I haven’t had as much time as usual to put into training with my move and all the renovations, even though I’m not personally doing much I’ve still needed to be around to talk to people and wave my credit card around at Bunnings… I was very happy to be able to give my support on Thursday as it was a Black Belt grading – something that our club (which is very small) hasn’t had for quite a while. There were senior black belts from two other styles as well as our usual grader in attendance – and was extremely grueling… B our new black belt is in his 50’s and is a testimony to determination… it’s taken him many years to reach this level – and he is such a good example of the spirit of martial arts for me. One of the external graders said that a Black Belt was a White Belt who never gave up – which is so true. It was very inspirational to be present – I even cried a little! (but then I’m actually a bit of a sook for those sorts of things).
